Hi Friends!
Just a few reminders for our study:
Don't forget to start with prayer… You know, I love this book and I have read it many times. At my wedding, my uncle who is a pastor at First Baptist in Houston (and performs all the weddings in our family) read from Philippians. It has been my favorite book ever since. Despite the fact that it is a book I love and am very familiar with... God is showing me new and beautiful gems! Why… because I’m asking, I’m searching, and I’m praying for insight! Don’t ever think to yourself “I know that verse” because we can never learn it all! God still has more! There is more treasure to be found, and more adventure to experience as we journey deeper with God.
So what are we seeing?
Ask the observation questions… who, what, when, where, why, and how?
Notice, the chapter begins with the word therefore… when you see this word always ask, “What is it there for?” Why do you think it is there? Remember it is a term of conclusion…
What are the repeated words or phrases? What are they revealing to you? Repeated words or key words tell us what the chapter is teaching on or the subject… what do you see?
Are there words that you want to look up in the dictionary? Is there a passage you want to learn more about? Are you stuck on something?
What verse is popping out at you? Why do you think God is bringing it to your attention? How can you apply that verse to your life?
I'm on vacation right now but I’ll put up a post next week!
Love you guys and looking forward to hearing about your treasure hunting!
